The Sunward SWE 90UF compact excavator was launched at the end of 2020. The SWE 90UF has been developed especially for Australian conditions, where contractors, from demolition to the rental market, will appreciate a compact machine that delivers heavy-duty performance. It features a very short-tail swing, making it the shortest 9-ton short-tail excavator (by almost 20 cm) available in the market. Thanks to its design, the SWE 90UF can offer great power at a reduced footprint, allowing it to fit into smaller spaces than similar products. It combines the power of the Yanmar 4TNV98C engine, delivering 46.2 kW, with incredible precision thanks to the dual proportional joysticks, the perfectly fitted hydraulic flow coupled with the LUDFF system (Load Independent Flow Control). To balance fuel consumption and the desired productivity, the SWE 90UF offers 3 working modes.

POWERFUL & RELIABLE ENGINE

At the heart of the SWE 90UF, we chose the Yanmar 4TNV98C engine. This new generation engine features a common rail direct injection, assuring more precise fuel delivery and control, increased fuel economy, superior exhaust treatment, reduced emissions, and improved performances. In terms of power, Yanmar 4TNV98C offers an output of 46.2 kW, allowing powerful performance to meet a wide range of applications.

All key components in Sunward excavators are carefully selected, from Yanmar engine to hydraulics. Because hydraulics are often regarded as the heart of the machine, Sunward sources exclusively from the highest references in the market. Bosch Rexroth is the market leader in hydraulic pump innovation, design, and manufacture. So, it was natural for Sunward to select this premium brand to be our main pump supplier, as well as valves and joysticks. Our Bosch Rexroth hydraulic pumps deliver greater precision and reliability – which naturally reflects on the reliability of this machine. We also selected KYB or Flutek for the traveling and swing motors.

The SWE 90UF has exceptional digging forces – 38 kN (arm) and almost 63.5 kN (bucket) – which is certainly equal to – and even better than – the 9-ton references available on the market. And when it comes to its long-reach digging capacity, the SWE 90UF is again very well positioned with its almost 7.5 m long reach.

The SWE90UF has exceptional lifting capacities up to 4,749 kg (max.) and stretched reach up to 7,445 mm (max.) that easily rival the long-established 9-ton excavators on the market.

The SWE 90UF’s unique design augments the performance of its premium components, as this extremely compact 9-ton excavator is the shortest short-tail excavator (by almost 20 cm) available in the market. These precious centimeters of its swing radius make all the difference between being transported on a regular truck rather than a specialized one. Then, on the job, the SWE 90UF provides the stability required for long-reach digging and heavy-lifting duty.

This slightly Sunward SWE 90UF mini excavator has it all from the day it leaves the factory:

  • Auto idle engine to save fuel and limit the engine’s consumption. – While other manufacturers usually use a flow throttle (because it’s cheaper), we at Sunward opt for a Load Sensing (hydraulic) system, which provides better energy saving possibilities.
  • Safety valves for the boom cylinder for safer operations.
  • Auto-shifting traveling motor for smooth operations to the operator.
  • TOPS, FOPS & ROPS cab.
  • Battery cut-off switch for safer operations and prolonged battery lifetime and power – which is especially appreciated in the cold weather of Scandinavian countries.

To reduce maintenance time and cost for the SWE 90UF, the covers at the rear and on the side provide direct access to the service points. The standard service points – for fuel, oil, and air filters – are directly accessed via the cover at the rear. So, with very easy access to the fuel tank and centralised grease fittings, these mini excavators are as easy to maintain as they are to operate.

The high‑strength SWE 90UF cab meets no less than FOPS, TOPS, and ROPS requirements, which are standard and among the first features to ensure a safe and comfortable job in all application environments. Despite its compact size from the outside, the SWE 90UF offers easy access to the roomy cab. Thanks to the large windows and the well‑organised cab, everything is designed to keep operators comfortable and productive as well as safe.
